  • Is it possible to have just a ceremony with Barefoot Beach Bride weddings?

Yes, Barefoot Beach Bride offers standalone ceremonies on the beach without a subsequent celebration.

  • What is the best time of day for a wedding in Ocean City, MD?

Optimal timing for a beach wedding is a couple of hours before sunset, generally falling between 5 and 7:30 pm, varying with the season. This timeframe ensures pleasant weather, quieter beaches, and softer lighting, perfect for capturing memorable photographs. Consequently, we avoid scheduling beach weddings during midday in summer. If you opt for a summer wedding, it's advisable to plan it before 10 am or after 6 pm to mitigate the heat and maximize the ambiance.

  • How can I obtain my marriage license for a wedding in Ocean City, MD?

Unfortunately, Worcester County requires the couple to obtain the marriage license themselves; Barefoot Bride cannot do this on your behalf. Since your wedding will take place in Worcester County, Maryland, the license must be obtained there.

Both partners don't need to be physically present to apply for the license. You can apply in person at the Clerk of the Court in Worcester County, and you'll receive the license the same day.

Keep in mind there's a 48-hour waiting period after receiving the license, and it expires six months from the issue date.

The fee for the license is $35. This fee isn't included in your contract.

You may be able to start the licensing process at your local courthouse. Once you've contracted with Barefoot Bride, we'll provide instructions on how to proceed at your local courthouse.

  • What happens to the license after the ceremony?

The business day following the marriage ceremony, Barefoot Bride will mail the license to the Worcester County Clerk of the Court. If you have your own officiant, they're responsible for completing and filing the license.

If you're still in town the next business day, you can return the license in person.

  • How do I get more information from Barefoot Beach Bride 

To obtain more information from Barefoot Bride, you can either complete the contact form on their website or call 443-614-8542 to inquire about date and time availability or any questions you may have. It's helpful to have a specific date or a range of dates in mind.

Barefoot Bride plans weddings seven days a week, with availability throughout the weekdays if you're flexible. However, ceremonies at sunset on Fridays and Saturdays are typically the first to be booked. The most popular times of the year for beach weddings in this area are mid-April through early October.

If you're interested in receiving a quote for a reception or dinner, simply complete the Contact Us Form and submit it. All necessary information can be found on the form.

Barefoot Bride also handles small celebrations & receptions. Coastal 59 Venue is their new wedding venue, where they ensure every detail is taken care of. We offer pre-designed packages with all details listed under package descriptions, as well as custom-tailored packages. They manage all vendors, coordinate, execute, set up, and clean up at the end of your event.  

How do I book my wedding with Barefoot Bride?

Ceremony only: When you're prepared to secure your wedding date, please follow these steps:

  • Visit our official website: Book Your Ocean City Beach Wedding — Beach Weddings and Venues Ocean City. Md. (oceancitymdbeachwedding.com)

  • Choose your desired package by adding it to your shopping cart.

  • Proceed to the shopping cart to review your selections.

  • Fill out the booking contract form that appears.

  • Submit your initial planning payment (non-refundable).

  • Your remaining balance will be required 30 days before your wedding date.

  • Once we receive your completed booking contract, we will establish your account and provide access to your personalized planning portal.

  • From there, you'll begin to receive a series of emails containing essential wedding planning materials, instructions, invoices, and guidance on obtaining your marriage license.

  • Your wedding planning process will primarily take place through your dedicated Honey Book Portal, coupled with communication via emails.

We are traveling and not able to come down before the wedding, what will the ceremony and or reception look like?

  • Do know only 10% of the couples we have planned a wedding for have met with us prior to the day of their wedding? 90% of our wedding on planed through our wedding platform, emails, and over the phone. 

  • We even offer facetime meetings.

  • We know you will be putting a lot of trust in Barefoot Beach Bride to make your wedding beautiful and run flawlessly. 

  • We keep up on trends and update our pre-designed decorations for your ceremony/reception season. You can see what style you want and know what it will look like on your wedding day, taking the guessing and stress of coming up with a design you are uncertain of the outcome and being disappointed on your wedding day.

  • We will also customize designs just for you.

  • Some images are on our website but you will find that we post 75% of our weddings on social media.

    We post pictures on Facebook and Instagram so you can see all the different weddings and ideas throughout the season.

    Can we meet with you?

  • Yes, we do offer office appointments and venue tours.  

  • We do have an actual location/office in Ocean City MD. 5901 Coastal Hwy Ocean City MD 

  • We are an Incorporation and registered small business. We are licensed and insured

    How soon should we reserve our date and time?

  • First, confirm your wedding date and time is available with us by emailing barefootbridejodie@gmail.com or calling 443-614-8542

  • Dates are a first come first serve policy.

  • Once you have selected your date. 

  • You should go to the book now form on this website. Complete the book now form, make your first non-refundable payment. BBB will save your date and start planning your wedding. This will ensure that your data is saved.

  • We do not hold dates without having a booking form and first payment ​

  • We accept Debit cards and any major credit card through on secure online payment and booking system. 

  • Once payment is received you will start receiving emails, to set up your online planning platform & planning forms. ​

  • You will receive your Custom online planning platform hub for managing your wedding details.  Our online event management software keeps you organized, streamlines processes & saves time    

    Do you offer Same-Sex wedding services?

  • Yes, we are LGBT-friendly. 

  • We have performed many ceremony/vow exchanges for same-sex weddings.  

    Do you offer vow Renewals?

  • Yes, we have done vow renewals from the couple only most of the time using the Officiate to the Ceremony and Reception. 

  • There is no discount for a vow renewal.  ​

    How much will it cost to plan our wedding with Barefoot Beach Bride? 

  • All our weddings are priced as a package, this will save you hundreds of dollars on all the details and vendors it will take to plan your wedding. Each package will list all the details that are included with the price that is shown. 

  • Each package has all services and vendors listed; the price displayed is the price of each ceremony package. No hidden fee.

  • Custom designs, cake, flowers, and additional service prices are available to you once you have booked with BBB. 

  • You will receive the price before committing to any added service.

  • Dinner and Receptions packages are prices based on your estimated guest count.  We will prepare and email your personal proposal once we have received your contact form with the estimated guest count. Final guest counts will be due 35 days prior to your wedding, once we have received your final guest count your final invoice will be adjusted.  

  • We will make every possible attempt to work within your wedding budget. Knowing what is important to you, what we remove or adjust, allows us to customize a wedding that will fit into your budget when possible.    

    How many guests may we have?

  • We have a suggested guest count with our officiant and circle of love packages, these do not come with a coordinator to assist with a large number of guests or bridal parties If you would like more guests than stated please know there will not be a coordinator on-site to assist with organizing or executing wedding parties.

  • Venue capacity is based on the type of event. 

  • Wedding receptions 160 guests.

  • There is no extra charge for your guest count with our ceremony packages.  

    What if we need more chairs?

  • Each package has a few chairs provided, however, if you want additional chairs, we have chairs available.

  • Chairs are $5.00 per chair. plus, a delivery and set up fee.

  • Your ceremony will be approximately 15 minutes.  It is not uncommon that every guest has a chair. 

  • Standing ceremonies are very common on the beach.  

    Do you pick the location for the ceremony or do we?

  • Our primary beach location is 59th Street Oceanside beach. In order to guarantee a complimentary rain option we must perform the ceremony on this beach. This will avoid last minute travel plans causing your ceremony to run late.

  • We will assign your location at the time of booking based on what other weddings we have on the date you have chosen.  

  • The Beach location is on the public beach unless you have requested a private area.  Private areas do have an additional fee starting at $1000.00. 

  • Some of the locations do charge a fee for the use of the beach as well as a "Special Use Permit"...

  • These fees are NOT included in any of the Barefoot Beach Bride Wedding Packages" Ocean City Public Beaches

  • ** Permits are Required for Weddings

  • Barefoot Bride will complete and file the public beach permit. (Known as Ocean City beach notification form)

    What happens if it rains/inclement weather?

  • “Positive Thinking” with a backup plan.  Please keep in mind we are not Mother Nature and have No control over the weather. We think about the safety of you, your guest, and our team.

  • We will do everything possible to attempt to have your ceremony on the beach.
    1.    Move the time if possible.
    2.    Change the date when possible.

  • We offer a COMPLEMENTRY inside ceremony location at our venue Coastal 59. 5909 Coastal Hwy Ocean City MD 21842

  • All decorations, arbor, chairs etc. will be set up inside. 

  • When having a Ceremony with Reception the ceremony will be moved inside to the reception/dinner location.

  • You may want to consider WEDDING INSURANCE see your insurance company for details or search the web for companies.  

    Will there be other people on the beach?

  • Yes, beaches in the State of Maryland are Public Beaches.  We cannot “rope off” any part of the beach.

  • There are obviously certain times of the year when the beaches have more beachgoers than others.

  • Even “in season” the Families are usually beginning to “pack up” and start leaving the beach around 4:30. 

  • Then there are usually couples going for strolls along the beach.  Many of them “watch” from a distance. 

  • There are some areas that are less populated than others we avoid the board area. At the weddings that we have done, we haven’t had any interference with beachgoers.

    Who performs the ceremony?

  • We provide an experienced beach wedding Officiant/Minister, most of the time it's Jodie.

  • Non-Denominational Reverends  

    Can we bring our own Officiate?

  • Certainly, if he/she is Ordained in the State of MD or state ceremony is being held in.

  • Your Officiant/Pastor is responsible for completing and filing your marriage paperwork. 

  • A $50.00 credit will be given toward the package price.

  • If BBB must complete and file there are no discounts given.   

    Can we write our own vows?

  • Yes, we encourage couples to be creative.

  • When couples write their own vows, we suggest you read your vows.  This is more personal and does not sound right being repeated after the Officiate.

  • The ceremony is written by BBB. You must use our 6 per-set ceremonies which will be given to you once you have contracted with us.   

    Can we have a friend read a poem?
    Yes, you can have a Friend/ Family member read a poem, sing, or lead in prayer.  

    Who takes our pictures?

  • All of our packages include our staff photographers.

  • They will take pictures prior to the ceremony, during the ceremony, and portraits after the ceremony (group, bridal party, family, bride, and groom) portraits take about 30 minutes.

  • Then a link to your gorgeous pictures will be emailed to you within 4-6 weeks (our processing time) from your photographer. 

  • Couples will receive a digital non-edited download of printable images with a photo release. ​

  • The option to purchase packages, albums, or prints from the photographer once you have previewed your picture link.

  • We strive to provide our clients with quality photos... however, weather conditions may affect the outcome. 

  • If you are scheduled for a sunset wedding and arrive more than 15 minutes late, we may not be able to take the number of photos in the package... there will be NO adjustment on costs.  

    Can we bring our own photographer/ videographer?

  • Yes, we will deduct $150.00 from your package price. Ceremony/Reception packages will receive a $700.00 deduction.

  • We will not be responsible for the photographer's timeline.  Please note you are responsible for communication with your photographer, timeline, location etc. The Decor set will be taken down 1 hour from the wedding start time.

    Can we bring our own decorations for the beach?

  • Yes, you may, we have an allotted amount of time to set up and prepare for your ceremony or reception.

  • You will be required to work around Barefoot Beach Bride’s time. *** Our insurance DOES NOT cover any decoration/ services other than our own**  

    Do you provide music?

  • Yes with a Bluetooth speaker or wedding music is pre-set with no special song request available. 

  • You may bring your own music and play as many songs as you would like.

  • You can also provide live music, harpist, violinist, cellist, guitarist, etc.

  • Our Ceremony and reception packages do include the DJ for your reception.  

    Can we do a first dance on the beach following our ceremony only?

  • Yes:

    If we use your DJ what style of music do, they play?

  • The DJ will contact you the week of your wedding and review the style of music you want. You will select the songs you want for the first dance, parent dance, cake cutting etc.  

  • During the reception, your friends and family can request songs they would like played throughout the night.  

    Can we bring our own DJ?

  • Yes, you may bring your own DJ. 

  • You will be responsible for communicating with your DJ.  They must work with our timeline.  

  • Are we able to bring our pets to the ceremony/dinner/reception?

    Pets are permitted on the beach or Boardwalk between October 1st and April 30th, but not permitted during the summer season. Pets are allowed in the Assateague National Seashore Park (although not on State Park beaches) year-round. Pets must be kept on a leash at all times and the owner/handler is responsible for removing any waste from public or private property. If you’re traveling to Ocean City in season and want to let your pet stretch its legs, the Ocean City Dog Playground is located at Little Salisbury Park on 94th St. For information call Ocean City Recreation & Parks at 410-250-0125. Venue’s most have a no pet allowed policy

    due to health and food administration laws. You should always ask about the pet policies before arriving with your family pets. Additional cleaning fees will be applied should pets enter the facilities starting at $1000.00. Some people are severely allergic to pet dander which could cause server reactions to include hospitalization if they come in contact with the pet’s dander.


    Are Wheelchairs Available?

  • Ocean City does have a beach wheelchair for use with advance notice.

  • We always set up on streets that are handicapped beaches. 

  •  Ocean City provides great beach mats for walking or pushing wheelchairs on all Handicap streets. 

  • There are beach wheelchairs available from Memorial Day to Labor day up to 5 pm.  You will get the chairs through the lifeguard on the beach.

  • Beach Wheelchairs are also available through the Tourism Office and Police Station, for time past 5 pm. You are responsible for contacting, reserving, picking up, and delivering the wheelchairs.  

    How do we order Bouquets for our wedding party? We have Thistle Flower Bar which in our location.

  • Offer pre-designed bouquets that you can order through us once you have contracted with us. We do accept custom orders. 

  • You will send a picture and how many you need.  We will get back to you with a quote.  Once approved we will add to your account Summary for you to pay 30 days prior to the wedding date. 

  • The florist will deliver it to you.  

    Can we have a cake even if we are not doing dinner or reception with you?

  • Yes, once you have contracted a ceremony package you can order your wedding cake through us.  

  • We do accept custom orders.  You will send a picture and how many you need.  We will get back to you with a quote. Once approved we will add to your account Summary for you to pay 30 days prior to the wedding date. 

  • The baker will deliver it to you. ​

  • NO CAKE ON THE BEACH, seagulls love to add themselves as guests when there is food.   

    Do you have a bridal suite to get ready in?

  • When booking a ceremony only or ceremony with diner, you can rent our studio 40 Located on 40th Street for the day (other options avaiable once you have booked your wedding) or get ready in your hotel/rental. You will arrive on the beach ready to walk down the aisle.

  • When booking a reception, you will have access to our Coastal 59 complementary bridal suit for the day.

    How do we schedule for hair and make-up?

  • We work with a local company that will travel to your location. 

  • Once you have contracted you will receive their contact information on this website's client access page. 

  • You will contact them and schedule your appointment directly with them.  

    What happens if we have to postpone?
    Any payments will be applied our new date within 1 year of the original date.  Payment is non-transferable or refundable.  

    What happens if we must cancel?

  • All payments are non-refundable. 

  • Once we receive your booking form/contract we will start planning your wedding. Booking vendors, setting up your personal planning system, preparing your itinerary, checklist, planning forms etc.

  • If you cancel less than 120 days prior to your wedding date- all monies paid will be forfeited.
